Naira Marley sues Nollywood actor Iyabo Ojo for N500m
Nigerian singer Afeez Fashola, famously known as Naira Marley, has sued an actor Iyabo Ojo for defamation. The singer accused Ojo of portraying him as a drug addict and fond of lacing food and drinks of signees under his record label with drugs.
TheCornet had reported that Naira Marley regained his freedom recently, after several days in police detention over the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).
In his letter of demand, Naira Marley’s counsel Olalekan Ojo, said that the actor (Iyabo) made the claims in September, 2023 on her official instagram handle ‘iyaboojofespris’.
He further wrote, “Your publication of the above words on the internet which is readily accessible to users of the system constituted a very serious libel and has caused our client colossal damage to his reputation.
Naira Marley is demanding N500 as damages, a retraction, and an order restraining her from repeating the claim. The singer urged Ojo to meet his demands within seven days of receiving his letter.
