Ministry of Finance not on fire – officials

The Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning has debunked viral news that its headquarters, located in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, was burning.

The claim that the complex was gutted by fire had circulated the social media space early Wednesday morning.

However, the ministry has officially clarified that a mild fire occured only at its basement where batteries are being kept.

“The Federal Ministry of Finance HQ is not on fire as reported on social media,” the ministry tweeted.

“Rather , there was an incident on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery pack.
