APC, PDP shift dates in electoral timetables

The two frontline political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have made extension in their electoral timetables.
In a statement on Wednesday, Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of the APC, said the party had extended the sale of its Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2023 General Elections till Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Prior to the announcement, the ruling party had given May 5, 2022 as the deadline for aspirants to procure their forms.
“In a revised timetable issued by the APC National Organising Secretary, H.E. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the last day for Submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is now set for Wednesday, 11th May, 2022.

“Also, Congresses to elect Local Government Area (LGA), State and National Delegates will now be held from Thursday, 12th May to Saturday, 14th May, 2022”, the statement said.

On its part, the PDP said it was postponing the dates for its local government congresses. The exercise was scheduled previously for May 5, 2022.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s national publicity spokesperson, said that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had approved the postponement of the congresses wherein national delegates were to be elected.
“A new date for the LGA Congress will be announced in due course. The NWC regrets any inconveniences the postponement may have caused.
“All leaders, critical stakeholders and members of our Party across the country should please take note,” the PDP said.
