Lawan says what Nigerians would remember about 9th senate

Incumbent president of senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has said that Nigerians would remember the outgoing senate for the legislations, representation, and oversight it carried out during its time.

The current 9th senate is in the twilight of its existence as another-the 10th senate-would soon be inaugurated.

Speaking on Wednesday, Lawan who won a re-election to represent Yobe north district, equally said that the senate passed 112 bills and assented to by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He added that the senate and its press corps worked in national interest.

ā€œJust like we in the ninth senate said that we worked for the national interest, this senate press corps has also worked for the national interest. We canā€™t ask for a better senate press corps than this one,ā€ he said.

ā€œYou reported those things that we have done and one thing I can say here is that you remain factual, you remain truthful in reporting whatever happened in the senate.

ā€œFor us and particularly for me, this ninth national assembly, no matter what anybody will call it, we have done what we should do to ensure service delivery by the executive arm of government to Nigerians.

ā€œAt the last count, former President Muhammadu Buhari assented to about 112 bills in the last four years.

ā€œSome of them extremely crucial and critical bills that have come to reform either our economy or the oil industry or our social environment or our electoral process, are things that we are very happy about and we have been able to achieve.ā€
