Senior police officer shot dead in Katsina

Aminu Umar, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, has been shot dead by terrorist in Katsina state.

The incident took place in the Zakka forest of Safana LGA of the state on Tuesday.

Until his death, Umar was the police Area Commander of Dutsinma. He was killed alongside a junior officer.

Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the murder of the police officers.

According to Isah, the police received a distress call about the activities of some 300 Ak47 -wielding terrorists on motorcycles.

He added the terrorists engaged the police team in a gun duel, leading to Umar and another’s deaths.

“Consequently, the Area Commander and one other gallantly lost their lives during a cross-exchange of gunfire,” Isah added.
