Bandits release victim after knowing she suffers high blood pressure

Bandits who kidnapped a woman and members of her family decided to release her after they found out she was suffering high blood pressure.

The woman, who is the senior wife to Ibrahim Tanko, the Sarkin Hausawa of Anguwar Azara in Jere, along Abuja-Kaduna highway, was seized at gunpoint.

The gun-wielding men also kidnapped Tanko’s two other wives, Maimuna Ibrahim and Hauwawu, and his four daughters.

Tanko said the bandits attacked his home around 11:52 pm on Tuesday, but he managed to escape through an exit door.

“It was after they searched and couldn’t see me that they went into room where my daughters were sleeping and whisked four of them away at gunpoint,” he said.

He added that the criminals also attacked his neighbour and took away a nursing mother, identified as Laraba Umar.

“In fact, they macheted the woman’s husband until he became unconscious. He is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital at Katari,” he said.

A spokesperson for the Kaduna state police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, said the police were not aware of the incident.
