Katsina govt moves on despite terrorist killing five citizens, abducting others

The government of Katsina State has not yet responded to the terrorist attacks that resulted in the murder of some citizens and the abduction of nine more in Danmusa. A report states that the attack occurred on Sunday at around 8:00 p.m. and lasted for a while. A former local government caretaker chairman of Danmusa Local Government Area was among the victims.

Abubakar Sadik, a spokesman for the state police command, reported that five people were killed and five others were kidnapped by the terrorists.

“Five people were killed, and five were kidnapped. The command is making a frantic effort to ensure the unhurt rescue of the kidnapping victims and the arrest of the perpetrators,” he said, promising to make further comments about the incident later.

At the same time, 210 undergraduate students from the state received scholarships totaling N640 million from state governor Dikko Radda.

To be eligible for the bursary, recipients must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 4.50.

Radda, said, “We shall continue to make life better for our hardworking and brilliant students. The prompt payment of these scholarships is aimed at reducing the economic hardship of several parents in our dear state.

“The award of academic excellence is my brainchild to inspire our younger generation to face their studies squarely. The rationale for the award is to reward hard work and encourage competition among Katsina students.
