I’m not behind dismissal of errant policemen – FPRO Adejobi

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, has expressed ‘surprised’ he is being accused for the dismissal of some errant police officers.

The police have recently publicized the dismissal of errant police officers for misconduct.

“I am surprised to hear or read that Muyiwa Adejobi dismissed them.

“The police dismissed them, and it will continue to sanction anyone who violates the law,” Adejobi tweeted.

He explained “every sanctioned policeman is subjected to the Forces Disciplinary processes.”

“We don’t sanction without due process and it’s not a personal affair, but systemic,” adding neither IGP nor he has the power to whimsically dismiss an errant officer.

In a related development, the police Friday announced the dismissal of Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri from the force. Kadiri, formerly attached to Dolphin Divisional Headquarters, in Lagos Police Command, got the boot “for gross misconduct, disobedience to lawful order, and assault on a member of the public.”

“He equally assaulted the commuter who attempted to bring the order to his notice,” the police said.

A viral video had captured Kadiri carrying out the assault on August 3, 2022.
