Benue ex-chief judge let out property to kidnappers – Police

A former chief judge of Benue state is alleged to have let out a property to four suspected kidnappers. The police in the state arrested two of the said criminals, while the kidnapping kingpin and another accomplice escaped.

One of the arrested suspects, Iorver Solomon, confessed the gang realised N500,000, and another N1 million from two kidnapping operations.

The state government Sunday demolished the building being used by the kidnappers as their hideout.

Colonel Paul Hembe, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Samuel Ortom, defended the demolition.

“The state has zero tolerance for kidnapping activities and we have a law in place which provides that whoever provides his or her property to be used by kidnappers as a den, we will have that building demolished,” he said.

“Our special crime unit busted their activities. Two of them were arrested and two others including the kingpin are on the run but hopefully, we will get them very soon.”
