Lagos sees death of one in cult-related crime

Residents of Ire Akari Estate, in the Isolo area of Lagos state, have witnessed the death of one owing to a cult-related activities.

TheCornet gathered that suspected members of a deadly fraternity, the Eiye confraternity, forcefully seized a resident from his home. The deceased reportedly intervened to save the victim, a development that led the cultists to shoot him dead. The assailants allegedly also smashed the deceased’s head with a stone for daring to stop them from their criminal act.

A source, in the original report, said: “The incident happened on Tuesday night, a few minutes before midnight. I heard that some people came to the area to carry someone who was already inside the vehicle when the victim started questioning them to know why and where they were taking the person to.

“The clash between rival cults in this area is not unusual. A similar incident had occurred in the community two months before Tuesday’s incident. This is not the first time these cult people are fighting; they have fought before and killed somebody,” the source said.

The Divisional Police Officer, Isolo Divisional Headquarters, CSP Amodu Nurudeen, was quoted as saying he visited the scene of crime and that investigation had begun into the killing.

“I’m aware of the incident. I was there throughout the night until daybreak. No suspect has been arrested for now,” Nurudeen reportedly said.
