Female senator defeats ex-gov., Ribadu to clinch APC guber ticket

It is victory for advocates of gender inclusion as Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed Binani trounced former governor Jubrilla Bindow and former EFCC chairman Nuhu Ribadu to emerge the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Adamawa state.

Malam Gambo, the election committee chairman, said Binani scored 430 votes while Nuhu Ribadu, got 288 votes.

The immediate past governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, came third with 103 votes, while Abdurrazaq Namda  and Wafari Theman got 94 votes and 39 votes respectively.

Binani represents Adamawa Central senatorial zone. She was a former member House of Representatives, representing Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency.

There were reports that her agents were caught inducing delegates during the election.
