Fayose gets fresh date for continuation of fraud trial
Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti currently standing trial for laundering N6.9billion of public funds, has got a new date for the continuation of his trial.
The trial judge Chukwujekwu Aneke was absent from the trial on Monday, when Fayose reappeared to face the 11-count charge against him.
The prosecution – Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) ā first arraigned on Oct. 22. 2018 before Justice Mojisola Olatotegun. Charge along with him is his company, Spotless Investment Ltd,
The former governor pleaded ānot guiltyā to the charges, and he was granted bail on Oct. 24, 2018. The court gave Fayose a bail sum of N50 million while he was also asked to produce two sureties in the like sum.
The EFCCās petition against Justice Olatotegun led to the re-assigning of the case file to Justice Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, before whom Fayose made his first appearance on July 2, 2019.
Fayose insisted on his innocence before Justice Aneke, who sustained the bail earlier granted to him.
