Finance Minister to Idris: Stay away from treasury officials

Nigeria’s minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed, has asked Ahmed Idris, the suspended, corruption-tainted accountant-general of the federation to avoid any dealing with treasury office or its officials pending his investigation for stealing.

Zainab’s order was contained in the letter of suspension handed Idris, whom the country’s anti-graft agency accused of stealing over N80billion.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, announced Idris’ arrest in Kano on Monday.

Idris is the first senior official in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to be arrested for corruption.
