Expectations high as Nigeria play Mexico in friendly match

Nigerian Super Eagles will face the El Tri of Mexico in an international friendly on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 5.08 pm.

The match will be played at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

The match is the first test for the newly hired Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro. The new handler will be supported by ex-international Finidi George.

This is the fourth time the two sides will be meeting in the last 10 years. Within the period, Mexico has only beaten Nigeria once in two draws.

A 2021 friendly match between the two countries ended with Mexico trouncing Nigeria 4-0 Nigeria.

Another friendly match played in 2014 saw the two teams playing a goalless draw, while a previous game between them, in 2013, had the final whistle blown at a 2-2 draw score.
