Donald Trump to be arraigned Tuesday

A developing story says former U.S. leader Donald Trump would be arraigned on Tuesday. This follows his indictment by a jury on Thursday.

Associated Press quoted court officials as confirming Trump’s arraignment next week.

It would be the first time a former U.S. leader would be charged with a crime, arrested and arraigned.

A grand jury’s probe into hush money paid by Trump to an adult film actor Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential run led to his indictment.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and denounced the investigation as a “scam,” a “persecution,” an injustice and a political low blow aimed at damaging his 2024 presidential run.

He is a Republican; the district attorney who oversaw the inquiry, Alvin Bragg, is a Democrat.

The news outfit also said officials asked Trump to surrender on Friday, but his lawyers said the Secret Service needed more time to make security preparations.
