Buhari’s aide confirms Akin Adesina’s bid for APC presidential ticket

Bashir Ahmed, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, says Akinwunmi Adesina, who is the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), is one of the presidential aspirants that have obtained and submitted the All Progressives Congress presidential nomination, and expression of interest forms.

Adesina has not officially confirmed his rumoured interest in the contest for the presidential ticket of the ruling party.

The presidential aide, Ahmad listed Adesina among other aspirants, such as Bola Tinubu, Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, Ahmad Lawan and 20 others who have returned their expression of interest and nomination forms.

A former president is alleged to be the force behind Adesina’s rumoured involvement in the race to the presidency in 2023.

The APC will hold its congress on May 30 and June 1, where delegates are expected to a presidential candidate for the party.
