Prophet Muhammed’s blasphemer gets reduced jail term

A Nigerian man, Mubarak Bala, jailed 24 years for blaspheming Allah and Prophet Muhammed, has had the court of appeal reduce his sentence. The appellate court reduced the sentence to five years.

Prior, a Kano State High Court had sentenced Bala, the president of the Humanist Association of Nigeria, in April 2022 for the offence.

Displeased with the ruling, Bala appealed the sentence.

Delivering his ruling on the matter, Justice Usman Alhaji Musale, reduced Bala’s jail term to five years.
