Court declines Abba Kyari’s bail application
A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, declined an application by the embattled suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari for his release from detention of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
Ruling on the application, Justice Inyang Ekwo, said event had already overtaken the request and cited the order of a sister court granting extended detention of Kyari by 14 days.
The judge further said he could entertain Kyari’s fundamental enforcement rights suit only after the expiration of extended detention order.
He then adjourned until March 15.
Nigeria’s anti-narcotics agency is investigating Kyari’s involvement in drug running. The agency accuses Kayri of selling 15kg out of 25kg of cocaine seized at the Akamu Ibiam Airport, Enugu.
Kyari has denied the allegation and claimed he was framed up.
