Varsity students demand justice for slain colleague

Colleagues of an undergraduate of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, are demanding justice for their slain colleague, Modupe Atanda.

Atanda, a student in the department of Nursing in the university, had gone missing. Her corpse would later be found.

Emmanuel Ajayi and Elizabeth Akuraku, the president and public relations officer of the university’s students’ union, expressed their pain on the death of their colleagues in a statement jointly issued by them.

It reads, “The cause of death and manner in which she died is a thing of great pain to the entire student populace in FUOYE”.

They described Atanda as “a precious and bright student”.

“We demand justice. While we mourn her sudden loss and pay our last respects to the dead, we hereby charge security operatives in Ekiti State to investigate and bring the perpetrators of this grave crime to book”.

The student leaders equally dismissed the rumour that Atanda’s corpse was mutilated. They informed that the police had made some arrests. “We will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice,” they declared.
