Why I cut off dead boy’s head – Suspect

A suspect, Kushimo Lukman, who was arrested for decapitating a deceased boy’s head in Abeokuta, has revealed he planned to sell it to an herbalist.

The parent of the deceased boy had sought Kushimo, who works as a morgue attendant with MABOD, to help bury their dead after he died of kidney-related ailment.

Kushimo interred the boy’s remains but surreptitiously invaded his grave the next morning, exhumed the corpse, and severed his head.

An official of the state-owned security outfit, the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, caught Kushimo with the decapitated head. The encountered reportedly led to a struggle before the official overpowered and arrested the suspect.

“During interrogation, the suspect revealed that the corpse was brought to the cemetery from the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, after the boy died due to complications from kidney disease”,  Moruf Yusuf, the Corps Director of Information and Public Relations, said, according to a report.

“The suspect later confessed that the fresh head was requested by a certain Chief Ifalonishe, aka Lanroye, at the rate of N50,000, and it was supposed to be delivered to him at a designated point in Abeokuta,” he added.

The Corps said it has transferred the suspect to the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
