Chevron gets marching order on matters involving natives

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, (NUPRC), has directed Chevron to settle its dispute with its host communities, namely Ugbororo, Ugbegugun and Dembele communities, all in Warri South Local Government of Delta State.

Gbenga Komolafe, NUPRC’s chief executive officer, gave the oil multinational two weeks to resolve the issues arising from its composition of the Host Communities Trust Fund.

The community dwellers had accused Chevron of going against the Petroleum Industry Act (2021), necessitating the government’s intervention. Komolafe said the commission’s office, located in Delta State, would supervise the process and submit a report on it in two weeks.
