Attack APC members, face war, says Teslim Folarin as he joins oyo guber race

Senator Teslim Folarin has vowed to retaliate against attack on members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state.

Folarin, who represents Oyo Central senatorial district, said this when he declared his governorship bid at a political rally, held in Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday.

The senator was believed to have issued the warning to Lamidi Mukaila, a transport union leader and the state Governor Seyi Makindeā€™s Man Friday.

Mukaila, better known as Auxillary, is the chairman of the Oyo state Park Management Committee.

Folarin accused Makinde, without mentioning him by name, of foisting Mukaila on the people.

ā€œHe is not one of us, and you can give any interpretation you like. He brought a mad dog in and said he should be killing people,ā€ said Folarin.

ā€œBut we have told him that we shall retaliate with three if he slaps us once. Let him dare us. The woman whose son was killed at Iwo Road Shopping Complex, last year is sick now with a strokeā€, he said, referring to a young man that was killed my some members of the transport union.

Aside Folarin, Dapo Adelabu, the APC flagbearer in 2019, has also declared his interest to contest the governorship post in 2023. Adelabu, who is a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, lost to the incumbent Governor Makinde in 2019.

The ranks of the APC in the state swelled as Kola Balogun, the only senator representing the state from the Peoples Democratic Party defected to the APC.

Balogun, who said he was returning to where he belongs, was joined by other defectors from the Labour Party.

The gathering also witnessed the presence of the sons of three former governors of the state. One of them is Dapo Lam-Adesina, whose father governed the state between 1999 and 2003. Also at the rally was Olamiju Alao-Akala, a local government chairman and son of the former governor, late Adebayo Alao-Akala. The son of the Late Abiola Ajimobi, Idris also attended the rally.
