ASUU: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway blocked over lingering strike

Aggrieved students of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions Tuesday blocked the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Their action is based on the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

TheCornet reports that vehicles were kept on standstill. ASUU and government have continued to remonstrate over the former’s persistent industrial action. The university teachers are demanding better funding for universities, among other requests. The Federal Government, on its part, says ASUU’s demand are unrealistic as it lacks the means to meet them.

The government on Monday dragged ASUU before the court, seeking that the lecturers be ordered by to the classrooms.
