APC factions differ on Omo-Agege’s expulsion

Two factions of the All Progressives Congress in Delta state have differed on the expulsion of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege from the party. Omo-Agege is deputy president of senate and the APC’s candidate in the March 28 governorship poll in the state.

One of the factions, led by Ulebor Isaac, on March 31, expelled the senator for alleged anti-party activities and for committing gross misconduct. The Issac-led state executive committee had ratified the decision taken by the APC ward exco from Orogun, Ughelli against the high-raking senator.

However, the parallel faction, led by Omeni Sobotie dismissed the action of the rival group. Peter Akarogbe, the spokesperson for the faction, stated in a release that those claiming to have expelled Omo-Agege are ‘rabble rousers’ and ‘dubious impostors’.

The faction described itself as the “legitimate and only state executive” of the party in the state. It urged members of the oublic to disregard the “mischief-makers” and the security agencies “to take note of the wanton rascality and the unscrupulous intent to cause disharmony and a breach of public peace.”
