Angry son kills mother, flees

A teenager, Iro Kwarangwal, has murdered his mother in his fit of rage, following an altercation between them on Wednesday in Karshen Kwalta, Kano state.

Iro reportedly stabbed his mother, Jumai, according to an eyewitness account.

The witness said she rushed to Jumai’s residence when she heard the noise but met her in the pool of her blood. Sympathisers tried to rescue Jumai’s life by rushing her to a hospital but doctors at the facility pronounced her dead on arrival.

The killer son had fled the scene after committing the matricide.

Jumai was buried according to Islamic rites.

Abdullahi Haruna, the spokesperson for the police, confirmed the incident, though he did not give details.
