307 suspect arrested during police raid of Abuja black spots

The Federal Capital Territory police command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of 307 suspects nabbed during a raid of black spots.

In a statement issued on Monday, the police said that the special operation named ‘Operation Velvet’ took place at different locations, such as Gidan Dambe in Dei-Dei -Zuba axis of Abuja.

L”During search, one English Pistol with fifteen (15) rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered from one Ibrahim Tukur who claimed to be a DSS personnel,” the police said.

“Other exhibits recovered are motorcycles, wraps of marijuana, illicit substances and valuables, which are suspected to have have been stolen from innocent residents.”

The police said the suspects “are still undergoing screening.”

The special operation aims to “curb all forms of vehicular criminality and other crimes in the Territory.

“The Commissioner of Police further cautions officers against extortion of residents and to adopt professionalism in the discharge of their lawful duties, as security of the populace remains his utmost priority.
