108 Nigerian women released from Libyan detention land in Lagos

Scores of Nigerian women, who had been detained in Libya, have landed in the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to an official release, the former detainees comprised 108 women, 52 men, four infants, and one child.

The Nigerian Government and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) jointly evacuated the returnees from Tripoli airport in the Arab country’s capital.

Another batch of 162 Nigerians were equally evacuated from Libya, making a total of 327 nationals.

Ambassador Kabiru Musa, Chargé D’Affaires En Titre of the Nigerian Mission in Libya, stated that the other batch were airlifted from Benghazi International Airport, also in Libya.

“Both batches of evacuees are expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on the same day,” he said Tuesday.
