Zamfara governor picks new deputy

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has appointed Senator Hassan Nasiha as Deputy Governor, following the impeachment of Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.

Prior to his new job, Hassan was the senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The state house of assembly on Wednesday removed Mahdi Gusua, after a special panel set up to probe him on allegations of gross misconduct submitted its report.

Based on the report, 20 out of 24 state lawmakers voted for the former deputy governor
