An Ekiti grandma reportedly took N50,000 in compensation to forgo the rape of her 3-year-old grandchild.
According to the story, the alleged rapist Olanrewaju Seun, 18, had lured the little child into his room at his residence, located at Iyana Emirin area, Poly Road, in Ado Ekiti.
While in the room, Seun took defiled his victim. Upon learning of the incident, the said grandmother merely requested the monetary compensation.
Sunday Abutu, a police superintendent, said, during a press briefing, that the grandma converted the money to her personal use.
Abutu, who speaks for Ekiti Police Command, said the police received report of the incident and swiftly arrested the suspects.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victim into his room on 06/08/2021 at about 15:50hrs where he had carnal knowledge of her. The victim was thereafter, taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment
“The expert opinion proves that there was a penetration into the private part of the victim. Meanwhile, further investigation revealed that when the grandmother of the victim heard about the incident, she demanded the sum of #50,000:00 from the parents of the suspect for amicable settlement of the case,” said Abutu.
The police promised to prosecute the suspects.
Also, in Oye-Ekiti, the police apprehended four men who usually rob lodgers at hotels. Another suspect, Usman Hassan, is being held for kidnapping two persons along Ayebode-Odo Ayedun area of the state. Recovered from the suspect are three mobile phones.
