Why Tinubu is supporting Akpabio for senate presidency

President Bola Tinubu’s support for Senator Godswill Akpabio to become the next senate president is reportedly the outcome of a trade-off that took place between them a day to the All Progressives Congress primaries.

This claim is according to PUNCH, which alleges Akpabio had approached Tinubu that he would step down his candidacy from the presidential race and declare support for Tinubu’s.

A source in the report had said that “Asiwaju (Tinubu) assured him that he would be supported to emerge as the President of the Senate. As they were speaking, an influential woman (name withheld) also came in. That was how the deal was sealed.”

TheCornet could not verify the claim but reports that Tinubu has continued to display unwavering commitment to seeing Akpabio become the senate president in the 10th senate. President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate the new Senate on Tuesday.

Senator Akpabio was a two-term governor of Akwa Ibom state, a former minister and had been in and out of the senate.
