Eyewitness reveals gory death of Lagos doctor killed in lift accident

A distraught colleague of Dr.Vware Diaso has recounted her harrowing moment in the lift that crashed from the 10th floor to the ground at the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island.

TheCornet reports that the deceased doctor was a housemaster at the hospital until her grisly death.

Speaking on a television breakfast programme, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, the chairperson of the Nigerian Medical Association (Lagos chapter) said Diaso’s injury was quite severe that she could not have survived it.

He stated that Diaso suffered severe injuries to the head and rib fractures among others.

He stated that the deceased doctor dialled the lift operators and emergency response number for about 45minutes while being trapped, but none came to her rescue.

He said, “The doctors had to use knife and iron to try to open the lift a little bit to be able to bring her out. Someone that is small had to jump into the lift to bring her out.”

“The system failed us. We are seeking justice; those that are liable should be prosecuted. It must not be business as usual. This is enough for us to use the death of our colleague to change the space for healthcare in this state,” Olowojebutu said.
