Labour Party’s Amobi Ogah reclaims electoral victory

Labour Party’s Amobi Ogah has reclaimed his victory in the election conducted into the Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency seat of Abia State.

The Appeal Court upheld Ogah’s case against his contender, Nkiriuka Onyejiocha, who is currently the Minister of State for Labour and Employment. The state election petitions tribunal previously dismissed Ogah’s appeal, declaring Onyejiocha the winner. But the appellate court upturned the earlier judgment.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Onyejiocha into her current position. Had Ogah lost his appeal, the Independent National Electoral Comission (INEC) would have been compelled to conduct a fresh election into the federal constituency seat.
