Drowned NYSC members’ bodies found

Two bodies of National Youth Service Corps members, who drowned in Bayelsa state, have been found.

The bodies and those of two other persons who lost their lives to the Saturday’s boat mishap were retrieved on Monday.  Emergency responders are yet to find the bodies of two toddlers who were among the passengers of the ill-fated boat that sank along the Otuan and Ayama communities, in the Southern Ijaw Local Government council of the state.

A report said attributed the cause of the accident to bad weather, poor visibility, and that the deceased not wearing life jackets at the time of the occurrence.

Comrade Ipigansi Ogoniba, the state chairman of the Maritime Workers Union,  confirmed the recovery and said the NYSC authorities had been notified.
