Police to parade social media celeb-turned-kidnapper

The police in Bayelsa state has said it would speak officially and parade the arrested kidnapper, John Ewa, on Monday.

Asinim Butswat, the spokesperson for the police command, reportedly confirmed this in a report.

“We are going to issue a statement tomorrow (Monday) or parade the suspect,” Butswat was quoted to have said.

Police detectives had trailed Ewa from Bayelsa to Abuja, where they apprehended him.

Before his arrest, Ewa, who goes by the moniker ‘Lion’, was a social media sensation and wont to flaunt his ill-gotten wealth.

The ostentatious suspected criminal had posted videos of himself holding wads of naira notes, while advising his followers to “hussle” (a street language for working hard).

Ewa, who lives in Bayelsa, is said to be originally from Cross River state.
