A customer with Union Bank, Taofik Raimi, has had his N63,000 is trapped in a failed electronic transaction. Raimi said he had wanted to refund a Point of Sale (PoS) agent, who he instructed to transfer the equivalent to another person.

The agent did the transfer successfully and Raimi tried to refund him using his debit card. But while Union Bank allegedly debited Raimi, it failed to credit the PoS agent.

Narrating his experience, Raimi said he and the PoS agent visited a branch of the bank in Oyo state but they were unable to resolve the problem.

“He (the agent) is really pressurising me to return his money because it was part of his business funds.

“I don’t have a means of repaying him unless the bank returns my money,” he told FIJ.

The dissatisfied customer added his emails to the bank on the issue returned showing a delivery error.

“It appeared the email address was not functional,” he said. Two mails from FIJ through the bank’s official email: customerservice@unionbanking.com, also allegedly returned with the same delivery error message. But a certain, Temilayo, a call centre agent advised another email be sent. The newspaper said it did send one but yet to get a response.
