Consumers: Firm Advocates Stricter Oversight On Ethical Practices

Unethical behaviours by manufacturers and other businesses dealing with consumers is the focus of a free webinar holding on November 30.

Consumertrics, a leading consultancy firm on consumer governance and advisory, in conjunction with the Center for Consumer Concerns Initiatives (CCCI), is hosting the webinar on the topic ‘Ethical Practices: Shared Wins for Businesses and Consumers’.

The webinar, which kicks off at 12 noon, will be keynoted by Professor Felicia Monye, President Consumer Awareness Organisation (COA).

Panellists who will be speaking in the webinar include the vice chairman/chief executive of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Council (FCCPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera, and the director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.

Also, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, the general manager of Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, and Mrs. Teresa Emeakunne, Africa Ethics & Compliance Director, AB inBev, are among the speakers for the conversational styled-webinar.

Muyiwa Ayojimi, CEO, Consumertrics, says that the webinar is part of the firm’s advocacy for effective oversight by the relevant regulators on consumer-facing businesses in their dealings with consumers.

He said, “Business-customer relationships are determined and sustained by company’s ethical capital; it is about your values, governance, integrity and how such reflect in your dealings with your customers and other publics. But, the reality is that many businesses deal unethically with consumers, leaving them dissatisfied and helpless.”

Ayojimi added, In putting this together, we are urging regulators to necessary actions in protecting consumers. We are equally telling businesses that ethical compliance is in their interest too, because it helps the build trust, gain customer loyalty, increase their sales, among other benefits.”
