Uba: Supreme Court upholds APC’s indictment on shambolic primaries

The Supreme Court has upheld two previous rulings disproving the emergence of Senator Andy Uba as the party’s candidate in the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.Â

Prior to the current ruling, the Federal High Court had in the suit filed by another aspirant George Moghalu called the APC primaries “crude and primitive”. The court held that the primaries was conducted in breach of the party’s constitution, thereby declaring it null and void.

Towing the path of the federal court, the Court of Appeal similarly ruled.

Moghalu, who competed for the party’s ticket along with Uba, decided to challenge the latter’s emergence in the election the APC lost to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Moghalu also sought N122.5 million in damages against the party, including an order directing it return the money he spent on procuring its nomination form.
