Ondo deputy governor withdraws ‘impeachment’ suit

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ondo state deputy governor, moved to withdraw the lawsuit he filed to stop the house of assembly from removing him.

He informed Justice Emeka Nwite of Federal High Court, on Monday, about the All Progressives Congress efforts to reconcile feuding parties.

Aiyetidiwa’s counsel, Ebun-olu Adegboruwa (SAN), said continuing the lawsuit would jeopardise reconciliation effort. H equally urged Justice Nwite to await the outcome of the house of assembly’s petition against him.

Femi Emodamori, counsel to the Ondo Assembly, opposed Olu-Adegoruwa, saying the lawmakers already withdrew the petition against the judge.

Similarly, Kazeem Gbadamosi (SAN) who represents Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and Mutalib Ojo (SAN), counsel to Chief Judge of Ondo State, urged the court to discountenance Olu-Adegoruwa and proceed with the matter.

Justice Nwite adjourned till October 6 for ruling.
