Tinubu appoints fourth female CGIS in history

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday sustained his inclusive hiring into the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) with the appointment of deputy comptroller-general Kemi Nana Nandap as the acting comptroller-general of the service.

Nandap succeeds another female, the current CG Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, who is due for retirement by February end.

According to a presidency statement, issued by the special adviser on media and publicity to President Tinubu, Ajuri Ngalale, the fresh appointment becomes “effective from March 1, 2024.”

“Before her appointment as Comptroller-General, Nandap was the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service.

“The President anticipates that the new Comptroller-General will deepen the ongoing reforms in the service and create a robust mechanism for efficient and dedicated service delivery to Nigerians, as well as strengthen the nation’s security through proactive and effective border security and migration management,” Ngalale stated in the release.

TheCornet reports that Nandap is the fourth female to head the NIS, since 1962. Her precursors are Lady U.C Nwizu, CGIS from 2000 to 2004; Rose Uzomma, CGIS from 2010 to 2013;, Caroline Adepoju, 2023 to date.
