Corruption-tainted Ogun speaker leads suspension of two lawmakers

Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, the speaker of Ogun House of Assembly, whom the EFCC accused of laundering over N2 billion, Tuesday led other lawmakers to suspend two alleged erring members.

TheCornet reports that Oluomo and three others are being accused of laundering the said sum. But, on Tuesday, the speaker, currently on bail, presided over the suspension of the affected lawmakers, namely Dare Kadiri, the former deputy speaker, and Solomon Osho.

The suspended Kadiri, (representing Ijebu North II), and Osho (Remo North) are being accused of breaching the privileges of the assembly. Presiding, Oluomo said he received a resolution from appropriate number of legislators on the offence of the accused legislators.

“Having found to have severally and contentiously breached the Rights and Priviledges of the Ogun State House of Assembly and its Leadership, through violation of the provisions of Section 17 of Legislative Houses (Power and Priviledges) Act, 2017.

“The following Honourable members, Hon. Oluwadamilare Kadiri (Ijebu North II State Constituency) and Solomon Osho (Remo North Constituency) are hereby suspended from the House and its activities forthwith until further notice in line with the provisions of Sections 14 and 15 of the Legislative Houses (Powers and Priviledges) Act, 2017.”
