42-year-old man held for defilement

A 42-year-old man, identified only as Kolowale, is in the custody of the Rivers state police command for allegedly defiling his 13-year-old female house help.

The rape reportedly took place in Kayode’s Ejekwu Street, Eneka home, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Concerned neighbours reported Kayode to the police. Married with three children, Kayode is a rig worker and often off for weeks before returning home.

A report says that the girl, on a fateful day, denied Kayode sex and ran to neighbours for help. She decided to reveal to the witnesses the series of sexual abuse.

The police arrested the suspect after he returned from work last Sunday.

Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the police command, said that “investigation is ongoing.”
