Ogun husband bludgeons wife to death

A man from Abeokuta, Ogun State, has bludgeoned his wife to death. According to a police statement, the suspect, Segun Omotosho Ebenezer often battered his wife over her property – a private school – she built in hers and her husband’s name. But, Segun, a carpenter, is dissatisfied and he wanted sole control of the school.

On the fateful day, the couple had a brawl during which the husband beat and hit the wife with a padlock.

Seeing that her unpalatable condition due to the beating, Segun rushed the wife to the Federal Medical Center, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, where she later died.

Unbeknownst to Segun, the deceased had earlier forwarded a voice note to her relatives, informing them of the incident.

Upon the wife’s death, her relatives accused Segun of murdering his wife while playing the voice note to him. Frightened the assault had been exposed, Segun fled while abandoning the wife’s corpse.

Abimbo Oyeyemi, a superintendent of police and spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, said that the deceased’s sister reported the incident to the Kemta Police Division on November 14th.

“Upon the report and the recording evidence, the DPO Kemta division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, detailed his detectives to go after the killer husband.

“He was subsequently traced to to Akinseku village Abeokuta and he was promptly apprehended,” Oyeyemi stated.
