Suspect admits stealing but denies rape during confrontation with victim

A suspected robber, Akuchieani Echezona, who robbed an undergraduate of her mobile phone and allegedly raped her, came face to face with his victim on Tuesday in Anambra state.

The undergraduate had seen the picture of the suspect’s arrest, following which she stormed the police command to identify him. She equally identified the phone the suspect stole from her at gunpoint on July 11, 2023.

The suspect, Echezona admitted robbing the unnamed victim but denied raping her.

The police said they arrested Echezona, from Ifite Awka, at a popular hotel in Awka on July 20.
