
The late Chief Ademola Seriki, Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain, was an ally of presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He is also a brother-in-law to wealthy industrialist Chief Rasaki Akanni Okoya as he was married to the latter’s only sister Wosilat.
Prior to his taking Wosilat as his wife, Seriki was married to his childhood love, Remi – a clothing merchant whose shop located inside the ShopRite shopping mall on Adeniran Ogunsanya in Surulere was looted during the #ENDSARS protest.
A notable Lagos politician, Seriki first aspiration was to the Senate in 1992.
The late Seriki contested the Lagos Central District senatorial seat under the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC).
He was in 1998 elected a member of the federal House of Representatives, representing Lagos Island federal constituency under the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP).
In 1999, Seriki joined the Peoples Democratic Party and campaigned for the election of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo and his running mate, Atiku Abubakar.
Between 2008 and 2010, Seriki was appointed minister of state for interior, minister of state for agriculture, and minister of state for defence.
In 2011, the late Seriki defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria. In 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain.
