Supreme Court would return ‘stolen mandate’ – Kano gov.

Abba Kabir Yusuf, governor of Kajo State, has expressed hope of getting the Supreme Court to reverse the ruling sacking him from office.

In a ruling delivered last week, the Appeal Court sacked Governor Yussuf and order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to install Nasir Ganuwa of the All Progressives Congress in his stead.

Governor Yussuf, in his response, described the ruling as “unjust”.

He said, “We are optimistic that the Supreme Court would return our stolen mandate and address the unjust melted on us.

“I want to assure the people of Kano that it is a temporary matter and in no distant time, the Supreme Court will reclaim our mandate.

“We will not be deterred from the good work we have started in the state.”

The Appeal Court, in arriving at its judgment, decided to remove unlawful votes recorded for Yussuf.

After deducting the unlawful votes, the tribunal declared scored 853,939 while

The governor’s votes were then reduced to 853,939, as against Ganuwa’s 890,705 votes.
