The Nigerian business environment is expected to benefit from the passage of the Nigeria Start-Up Bill, passed by the Senate Wednesday.
Senator Oseni Yakubu, chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, said the bill aimed at establishing the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The council, he said, would create and develop an enabling environment for technology-enabled start-ups in Nigeria.
In the same vein, the lawmakers passed for second reading Ease of Doing Business bill, aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency and productivity in Nigeria.
Deputy Senate Leader Ajayi Boroffice sponsored the bill. After consideration, president of Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan forwarded the bill to the Committee on Trade and Investment for further legislative input. The committee is expected to report back on the bill in a fortnight.
Similarly, the senate deliberated over the bill to establish the Federal Nephrology and Kidney Research and Treatment Centre Hadejia, which got to second reading.
