Gunmen invade school, shoot teachers dead

Some gunmen, believed to be bandits, have killed two teachers of the BECO Comprehensive Secondary School. The school is in Kwi, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The slain teachers, Rwang Danladi and Sandra Rwang Danladi are said to be a couple, who wedded recently.

The victims and their colleagues were holding a meeting, when the bandits invaded the school. Some others, including the vice principal of the school, sustained injuries and are receiving medical treatment, says Moses Gwott, a youth leader in the community.

Gwott said, “It was on Monday around 3pm that the bandits came into the school compound with their cattle, and interrupted the staff meeting. The staff had asked the bandits who were obviously Fulani to get their cows out of the school environment. But instead of complying, they brought out their arms and opened gunfire at the teachers killing two teachers.”
