Ayade stays, despite defecting to APC – Court

A Federal High Court has ruled that Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade should keep his seat, despite defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo cited the ruling by the Appeal Court, Enugu Division, that a governor could not be removed from office on the basis of defection.

The appellate court, in the said ruling, stated that the procedure for removing a governor had been stated in the constitution.
