Ship suspected of stealing Nigeria’s crude intercepted in Equatorial Guinea
The Nigerian Navy says it has recovered a ship suspected of crude theft in Nigeria but later intercepted in Equatorial Guinea.
The ship is said to measure about 336m in length and 60m in width, named MT Heroic Idun.
According to a report, the initial effort to arrest the ship failed as it disappeared from the Nigerian waters. It was later arrested by the French-speaking African country.
Following the arrest of the ship, Nigeria engaged with Equatorial Guinea on releasing the vessel, which the later complied with after months of bilateral negotiations.
The Nigerian Navy says it would issue a public statement on the ship’s release on Monday.
