Serial killer arrested

The police in Rivers State have arrested a serial killer, Samuel Nwokoma, 25, from Port Haarcourt, Rivers State. Nwokoma is said to be a member of a cult identified as ‘Blood Star’.

In a statement, the police said they received credible intelligence that led to Nwokoma’s arrest on March 17.

“Nwokoma has been identified as being involved in a series of cult-related killings within the Diobu axis of Port Harcourt,” the police said, adding that the suspect confessed to committing series of crimes.

In addition, the police explained that Nwokoma and his gang, on March 14, killed one Sunday Ede, 32, at Nanka Street by Lomumba, Dioubu, Port Harcourt.

It was also said that Nwokoma and his members shot one George Johnson, 28, to death at Ojoto Street by Emenike, Diobu, also in Port Harcourt.

The law enforcement described the suspect’s arrest as “a significant breakthrough.” Nwokoma reportedly led police officers to his gang’s hideout, located at Ogwu Waterside in Diobu, Port Harcourt. The gang members are said to have jumped into the river to evade police arrest, but the law enforcement vowed to arrest them.

Guns and ammunition were recovered from the gang’s hideout, the police said.

“The recovered items include three AK-47 rifles, one assault rifle, six AK-47 magazines, one Beretta pistol, 274 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition, 105 rounds of 6.55 live ammunition, nine rounds of .9mm ammunition, seven packets of Improvised Explosive Devices, one long detonating wire, and various types of charms.

“The recovery of these dangerous weapons and explosives is of utmost importance, as it not only neutralises an immediate threat to public safety but also highlights the commitment of the Rivers State Police Command in combating violent crimes within our communities,” the police said.
